FACT: |
The IRS
spends billions and billions of dollars ($6.9
billion in 2006) on enforcement. |
|
FACT: |
The
odds of being audited by the IRS right now are
extremely low. |
|
FACT: |
The IRS
uses what they call “Audit Anxiety” to keep people
honest when calculating their taxes. Since the odds
of an actual audit are so low, this anxiety has been
tempered in recent rules, resulting in a far higher
number of fraudulent returns. |
|
FACT: |
The IRS
recently reported (2/14/06) that $345 billion in
taxes owed for 2001 has not been collected. They
also report that enforcement efforts will recover
about $55 billion of this. |
|
FACT: |
A $290
billion gap in just one year is NOT good business.
|
|
FACT: |
If tax
cheaters were eliminated, every person in this
country would see an immediate 30% decline in the
taxes they owe. |
|
FACT: |
The
ONLY way to eliminate cheating is to take a hard
line on it from NOW ON. We can’t change the past, so
let’s forget it and start changing for the better
now. |
